‘Aisyiyah Collaborates with LazisMu Launched GISI Campaign in Pangkajene

Taking place in the Regent of Pangkajene Official Residence, ‘Aisyiyah Pangkep collaborated with LazisMu launched Gerakan Infaq Sayang Ibu (GISI) to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Sunday (23/10).
The launch of Gerakan Infaq Sayang Ibu (GISI) entitled “Donasimu Selamatkan Ibu” is aimed to raise awareness on the importance of reproductive health, in particular breast cancer and cervical cancer prevention. As booth are the most deadly diseases for women in Indonesia.
Various stakeholders attended the event such as the ’Aisyiyah’s National Chairman, Soimah Kastolani, the Head of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries on behalf of South Sulawesi Governor, ‘Aisyiyah South Sulawesi, The Vice Regent of Pangkep, the representatives of the Council of Regional Leadership (Muspida), community organisations, women cancer organisations, as well as midwives, teachers and local students.
In her speech, Dra. Sri Hajati Fachrul Islam, The Regional Leader of ‘ Aisyiyah Pangkep said that GISI is launched to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month which falls in October.
“The launch of GISI is an effort to raise funding for maternal, reproductive and child health services in Pangkep. To reach our goals, ‘Aisyiyah and LazisMu signed a MoU to mark our collaboration to address said issues. The Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an appropriate channel to communicate to public of the importance of their alms. Later on, the alms will be used for the treatment of women with cancer in Pangkep,” said Sri Hajati.
The Vice Regent of Pangkep, Syahban Syammana gave his speech opened by stating his appreciation for the works of ‘Aisyiyah Pangkep and Muhammadiyah who have established humanitarian activities through GISI Program. The activities are mainly focuses on maternal and child health. He believes, GISI will eventually bring benefit for the women in Pangkep. He also expressed the gratitude to the representatives of MAMPU and the Government of Australia who have empowered women through MAMPU Program both in the cities and the islands.
“I would like to deliver the highest appreciation for ‘Aisyiyah Pangkep who continuously supporting local government to empower women in Pangkep through a grassroots-based program with the help of MAMPU. ‘Aisyiyah’s program is in line with the Regent’s program to accelerate poverty eradication,” said Syahban.
The event was filled with a variety of activities such as the Ambassador of Cancer Competition, tug of war, team building games, Fun Walk, BUEKA product exhibition, reproductive health campaign, donation for the cancer patients, business dialogues and Tabligh Akbar of Islamic New Year 1438 H.
