MAMPU in collaboration with Migunani Research Institute held a Workshop on Women’s Collective Action (WCA) Research Findings at the Alana Hotel, Sleman, Yogyakarta on Tuesday (21/02). This event aims to review quality of the research which focuses on participations of MAMPU’s 8 selected partners; ‘Aisyiyah, PERMAMPU, The National Commission on Anti-Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan), Migrant CARE, Women-Headed Household Empowerment Program (PEKKA), The Indonesian Women’s Coalition for Justice and Democracy (KPI), Alternative Education Circle for Women (Institut KAPAL Perempuan) and homeworkers’ partner in developing WCA.
It is expected through this workshop, MAMPU’s partners could actively discuss the research findings and provide feedback for community betterment in the future.
MAMPU and Migunani team presented the research findings and report drafts to MAMPU partners. The research findings suggested that organising women’s groups is an important and effective aspect to open women’s access to public services. Furthermore, there are three recommeded ways to open women’s access to public services; build women’s self-esteem, strengthen women’s leadership and open women’s access to empowerment programs and women’s group at the grass roots level. These three aspects are essential components for the sustainability of WCA’s success.
