‘Aisyiyah Sumedang Held Women’s Leadership Workshop

Friday (17/2) ‘Aisyiyah (PDA) Sumedang held a workshop entitled “Promoting Women’s Leadership through Preaching on Empowerment and Advocacy”. Held in Sumedang, West Java workshop was attended by over 20 participants from ‘Aisyiyah Regional and Sub-regional team.

Nur Hajar Setyowati of the ‘Aisyiyah National said that the rationale of the workshop was the fact that female leadership is needed for the development of ‘Aisyiyah as an organisation and its programs.

“Female leadership is a critical element in ‘Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah preaches because it encourage women to act which then create positive dynamic of our organisation,” said Hajar.

Through this workshop ‘Aisyiyah introduced the importance of empowerment and advocacy is the strategy implementation of ‘Aisyiyah’s main program namely Qoryah Thayyibah (QT). ‘Aisyiyah Sumedang will be a pilot implementation of the QT program.

The workshop facilitators conveyed materials on leadership, building strategies and collaborate with other stakeholders as well as issues of women and reproductive health in an Islamic view.

Through this workshop, hopefully the participants understood the importance of women’s leadership, through preaching about empowerment and advocacy in ‘Aisyiyah.
