‘Aisyiyah Announces the Short Movie Competition Winners with Reproductive Health Theme

On Saturday December 17, 2016 ‘Aisyiyah announced the winners of their short movie competition at University of ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta (UNISA). Supported by MAMPU, this event aimed to raise people’s awareness on reproductive health issues through the use of creative media to reach a wide audience. The event was also included a movie review and talk show −Creating A Generation Who Understands Reproductive Health Through Movies.
The event was attended by Dr. Tri Hastuti Nur Rochimah, M.Si, Executive Secretary of ‘Aisyiyah, and Edi Cahyono, Film Director of SITI, and Mega Ardina, M.Sc, Head of UNISA Communication Department, were speakers at the talk show. ‘Aisyiyah’s Executive Chairwoman, Noordjannah Djohantini, and Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat.,Rector of UNISA, also attended.
Four winners were announced at the event. Winda Dwi Astuti won the first place with ‘Akibat Tidak SADARI’ (Due to No Early Breast Self-Exam). Winda’s film narrates a story of a breast cancer patient. Through the film she she encourages women to undertake cancer early self-detection through SADARI.
Nashwan Ihsan Fazil came second with his animation entitled ‘Cegah Pernikahan Dini untuk Melindungi’ (Prevent Child Marriage to Protect Children). This animation reveals that Indonesia is the 2nd country with highest number of children married underage in Southeast Asia and ranked 37th in the world. The short animation shows the negative impacts of child marriage such as domestic violence, school dropout and high maternal mortality.
Third place was awarded to Nabila Litani Fajri with ‘Annisa Story’. Her film also aims to raise people’s awareness to prevent child marriage. Through the film, Nabila encourages others to delay marriage until they have reached a mature age for a better future generation.
Besides child marriage, and breast cancer another reproductive health issue,cervical cancer is depicted in Dzia Ulhaq’s film, entitled Detect Early explaining the importance of a healthy lifestyle and access to services for prevention and early detection including regular screening through visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) and pap smear, and administering the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination.
‘Aisyiyah will use these films as education for women members of grassroots groups formed under MAMPU, known as Balai Sakinah ‘Aisyiyah (BSA).
