On Tuesday 23 January 2018, the National Commission on Violence against Women (KOMNAS Perempuan) launched its 2017 Annual Report entitled “Affirmation of Attitudes – Bringing Victims Closer to their Rights” at KOMNAS Perempuan’s head office in Jakarta. The presentation of the Annual Report by Komnas Perempuan Commissioners was followed by public consultation in the form of responses and a question and answer session along with three parallel discussions.
“For KOMNAS Perempuan, expanding the cultural movement to eliminate violence against women is as important as encouraging the initiation of legislation, such as the Elimination of Sexual Violence Law,” said Azriana, Chairperson of KOMNAS Perempuan, as quoted by the newpaper Kompas (Wednesday, 24th January 2018).
