Women Grassroots Forum (FKPAR) of Bengkulu province and Cahaya Perempuan WCC held traditional costumes carnival in Bengkulu on November 25, as a part of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

In the carnival, FKPAR Bengkulu the assisted groups of Cahaya Perempuan WCC delivered several solutions for women issues in Bengkulu province. Firstly, they asked Local Government (PEMDA) and the Regional People’s Representatives Assembly (DPRD) to encourage the issuance of policies that protect sexual and reproductive rights. They also hope government could monitor the implementation of Government Regulation (PP) 61/ 2014 on reproductive health.

Secondly, they want government’s commitment to allocate fund for Recipients of Health Insurance Premium Assistance on National Health Insurance Program (JKN-PBI) and the Integrated Service Center for Women’s Empowerment and Child (P2TP2A). Thirdly, government should continuously update the data of poor citizen in order to give equal distributions of JKN-PBI facilities.

The group also hoped women can access 5% to 10% of regional fund budget (ADD) for women empowerment program and other programs which allow women to access education. They believe women education program would support their advancement to sit in decision-making chairs. Through these solutions, hopefully poor women could have a better life.
