GKR Hemas Inaugurated Maluku’s Women Parliamentary Caucus for 2014 – 2019 Period

On 24 August 2016, GKR Hemas, the Presidium Chairman of National Caucus of Women Parliamentarians, inaugurated the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (KPP) Regional Representatives Council (DPRD) of Maluku Province for the 2014-2019 period.

KPP is an organisation of women MPs that is established to facilitate communication between women parliamentarians and also to strengthen the role of women in parliament in provinces, districts and city level. KPP aimed to increase the participation of women at all levels of development and promote policies in favor of women in Maluku.

The formation and inauguration of KPP Maluku were a joint initiative of the KPP-RI and civil society institutions namely Arika Mahina Foundation, one of the BaKTI partners, which is supported by MAMPU Program (Empowering Indonesian Women for Poverty Reduction).

The inauguration was attended by Maluku Province parliament members, Heads of working unit in Maluku, and also representatives of civil society organisations and communities.
