On 3 October, Yasanti — MAMPU Partner for improving women’s employment conditions — cooperated with the Yogyakarta Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) to assist women homeworkers in Yogyakarta City and Bantul Regency to register with BPJS Employment health insurance.
Ninety-five homeworkers from homeworkers groups initiated by Yasanti were registered with to the health insurance scheme. These homeworkers also received a subsidy meaning will not have to pay the premium for the first three months of their cover.
While reducing barriers to decent employment conditions for vulnerable groups, the MAMPU’s strategy also encourages more collaboration between employers, employees, and trade unions.
