‘Aisyiyah Cirebon Holds Public Discussion on SDGs to Celebrate Mother’s Day

Supported by MAMPU, ‘Aisyiyah Cirebon held a public dialogue as part of Mother’s Day celebrations in Government District Building of Cirebon on Wednesday (21/12).
This event, Mainstreaming Sustainable Development Goals in Regional Development Program – Nobody Left Behind included stakeholders and representatives from women’s organisations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), Family Welfare Guidance (PKK), youth organisations, the Joint Organisation for Women (GOW), Kiblah Forum, the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI), Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (KUKM), academic communities, media, the Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda), Department of Health, Social Services, midwives of the assisted villages and heads of sub-district health centers. Regional and local leaders of ‘Aisyiyah and ‘district carders of MAMPU – ‘Aisyiyah also attended.
Sri Ratna Istiqomah, chairman of the steering committee and also Program Coordinator of MAMPU – ‘Aisyiyah Cirebon stated that as a celebration of Mother’s Day, ‘Aisyiyah Cirebon held a public dialogue to give a deeper understanding on regional development and three main social issues.
“Through this public dialogue, we encourage the public to learn more about poverty, health and gender issues,” Sri Ratna said.
Three prominent figures, Agung Gumilang (Bappeda), dr. Dwi Sudarni (Department of Health) and dr. Sri Anggraeni M.Si (‘Aisyiyah West Java) were key speakersat the event.
Agung Gumilang stated that regional poverty reduction program is gradually being implemented in West Java.
“Poverty eradication is one of the Sustainable Development Goals,” he added. He also explained that women’s participation is needed more in local development. The Bappeda believes that society should help in unlocking women’s full potential. We all should also give support to the products produced by women homeworkers.
At the end of the event, all stakeholders signed Paseban Declaration as a commitment to support SDGs implementation in Cirebon. As a closing statement, Sri Ratna hopes that women in Cirebon could be more prosperous and contribute more to regional development.
