‘Aisyiyah in Pangkep Launches GISI Program on World Breast Cancer Day in South Sulawesi

Located at the yard of the Pangkajene and Islands (Pangkep) Regentâs house, Regional Leader ‘Aisyiyah Pangkep collaborated with LazisMu launched an Infaq for Mother Movement Program (GISI) in commemoration of World Breast Cancer Day, Sunday (23/10).
Launching the Infaq for Mother Movement (GISI) campaigns on the importance of supporting maternal health for the prevention of breast cancer and cervical cancer.
The launch of GISI was attended by the Chairman of the Central Leadership ‘Aisyiyah Soimah Kastolani, the Governor of South Sulawesi represented by the Head of the Maritime and Fisheries Service, PWA Sul-Sel, Deputy Regent of Pangkep, representatives of the Regional Leadership Conference (Muspida), community organizations, organizations cancer caring women as well as a number of midwives, teachers and students from Pangkep District.
The launching of the Infaq Dear Mother Movement (GISI) was held in commemoration of Pink Day which fell in October.
Chairman of the Regional Leadership ‘Aisyiyah in Pangkep as the person in charge of the event in his speech said,
“GISI Launching activity is an effort to encourage funding for maternal and child health including cancer patients in Pangkep District, by cooperating with LazisMu as a partner and strengthened by the signing of the MoU between ‘Aisyiyah and Lazismu. This Pink Day commemoration is chosen to communicate the importance of giving to all parties, as this donation will be used to save mothers with cancer in Pangkep Regency,” said Sri Hajati.
The Deputy Regent of Pangkep Syahban Syammana expressed his appreciation to ‘Aisyiyah Pangkep and the Muhammadiyah families who have mobilized humanitarian activities through the GISI Program to help the health of mothers and children. He hoped the movement can be beneficial for women in Pangkep to be free from the dangers of cancer. In addition, the Deputy Regent also expressed his gratitude to MAMPU Jakarta representatives for the role of the Australian Government which has encouraged the empowerment of women through the MAMPU program as far away as remote islands like Pangkep in South Sulawesi.
“The highest appreciation is for Aisyiyah Pangkep who has successfully held a healthy walk in the framework of breast cancer day and has supported the local government in empowering women in Pangkep District through a grassroots community-based program supported by MAMPU. This program is certainly in line with the Regentâs program in accelerating efforts to alleviate poverty like the one carried out by ‘Aisyiyah,” said Syahban.
The Pink Day commemoration was coupled with various activities such as the Cancer Ambassador Contest, tug of war competitions, and MAMPU Cadre Building Team Games which were held the day before. The highlight of the program was a healthy walk, a BUEKA product exhibition, a reproductive health campaign, providing compensation for cancer victims, a business meeting dialogue and tabligh akbar for Islamic New Year 1438 H.
