BaKTI and PPSE: Policy Advocacy for the Strategic Planning of PPPA Office in Belu, East Nusa Tenggara

The BaKTI Foundation and the Atambua Diocese Socio-Economic Development Committee (PPSE-KA) were advocating for legislation policy for the strategic planning (Renstra) of the Department of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) of Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The advocacy, which took place on 15 May 2017, was held at the PPSE-KA office.

Several representatives of SKPD were present, such as: PPPA Office, Manpower and Transmigration Office, Health Office, Social Office and BPAD Belu Regency. The drafting of the Renstra requires a long process and need an intensive meetings, especially with regard to data on Women and Children.

Meanwhile, Strategic Plan and achievement indicators are very much dependent on the initial data as a basis to see the achievement, both per year and the next five years.

Head of PPPA Office dr. Jois Manek said that PPPA Office in Belu is newly established. The MAMPU program in cooperation with BaKTI and PPSE Diocese of Atambua, is very helpful to realise the progress of the Belus’ PPPA activities in the future.

As a follow up of this meeting, the MAMPU-BaKTI and PPSE teams visited the office to provide an understanding for all staff of the offices related to gender and the flow and work mechanism of the PPPA Office. It is to create synergies in the implementation of future program activities. In addition, currently Belu Regency does not yet have an Integrated Service Center for Women and Children Empowerment (P2TP2A). Therefore, BaKTI and PPSE will accompany and oversee the PPPA Office in establishing the P2TP2A.
