CIQAL: “KAMI BISA TVRI” Campaign on Disability Issue and Sexual Violence in Yogyakarta

On 16 July 2016, TVRI Yogyakarta visited CIQAL, one of Komnas Perempuan’s partners which supported by MAMPU Program, in CIQAL secretariat in Bantul, Yogyakarta. TVRI did a coverage as part of the TVRI Yogyakarta program related to Empowerment of People with Disabilities in Yogyakarta, with the theme “KITA BISA”(we can). For this coverage, the issue raised was the campaign on violence against women with disability, delivery of disability and sexual violence issues in Yogyakarta.

On the occasion, TVRI Yogyakarta cover on the institutions profile, programs and activities undertaken by CIQAL. They also recorded testimonies from CIQAL beneficiaries.

CIQAL (Center for Impoving Qualified Activity in Live of People with Disabilities) is an organization that was founded in 2003 and works for people with disability. CIQAL focuses on activities to improve the quality of human resources from people with disabilities, so they can have equal opportunities in social life.

CIQAL aimed that people with disabilities can improve their economic welfare and independent, especially economically. From CIQAL’s findings, people with disabilities still often become marginalized and many of them are weak in terms of economy, education and skills. Therefore, CIQAL actively providing training, economic empowerment programs, awareness of political rights for the disabled, and also various disabilities events.
