Homeworker Beneficiaries of MAMPU Partner Received Ministry of Manpower’s Assistance for Freelance Workers

As many as 19 out of 168 beneficiary groups from this program are independent business groups (cooperatives) of homeworker beneficiaries of MAMPU Partner: Trade Union Rights Center (TURC) and Yayasan Annisa Swasti (Yasanti). They received funding from the TKM Program amounting IDR 40 million per group.
“The empowerment of TKM new entrepreneurs is aimed at stimulating small industries, particularly women workers, through increasing their creativity. According to our record, up to 31 July 2020, there are a total of 3.5 million of formal and informal workers affected by the pandemic. We need to pay attention on them and help them rebound with this program,” she explained.
The representative of Indonesian Homeworkers Network (JPRI), a beneficiary of MAMPU Partner, received the assistance for Freelance Workers for COVID-19 Affected Women Workers on Thursday, 13 August 2020 in Purwakarta, West Java. The assistance was handed-over directly by the Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, accompanied by District Chief of
Purwakarta, Anne Ratna Mustika.
“The Government will keep pressing down unemployment as much as possible with COVID-19 mitigation programs, particularly for women workers who are laid-off and suspended. The government expects this program to help transforming women workers into entrepreneurs,” she explained during the handover ceremony.
The assistance package will be utilized as business capital for the already established homeworkers cooperatives. The package is expected to help homeworkers to build group businesses and sustain their economies.
In the same occassion, the representative of JPRI Tangerang also handed over to the minister the Draft Proposal for Minister of Manpower Regulation on Homeworkers Protection, altogether with a number of books and studies produced by MAMPU Partners.
