Perempuan Pekerja Rumahan (PPR) conducted hearing and visitation to the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA). It was held in mid-April 2016, and is aimed to urge KPPPA policies and programs in providing guaranteed protection and decent work for homeworkers.
As the response, Lies Rosdianto, deputy assistant of Protection of the Women and Children Rights, mentioned:
- Data about homeworkers and their condition are needed for identifying program needs and designing policies that provide protection to homeworkers.
- KPPPA open the proposal to engage in homeworkers’Â advocacy efforts.
- KPPPA will do coordination with Ministry of Manpower and other related ministries to urge protection policy of homeworkers.
- KPPPA willing to be the mediator to the parties (such as: manufactures/ large factories) that employ homeworkers, to inform about the homeworkers’ unfulfilled rights.
