Public Hearing to the Vice Chairman of DPR RI to Follow up the Bill Draft on Elimination of Sexual Violence

On 6 September 2016, National Commission for Women (Komnas Perempuan) andForum Pengada Layanan (FPL) held a public hearing with the Vice chairman of the Indonesia House of Representatives (DPR RI), Fahri Hamzah to discuss about the follow up of the bill draft on the Elimination of Sexual Violence.

Komnas Perempuan proposed that the bill draft should be discussed in the special committee (Pansus), not the Commission. Fahri responded that this proposal will be followed up in coordination with the Legislative Body (Baleg) House of Representatives.

“Komnas Perempuan proposed that this bill draft can be discussed in the special committee level, so that it will be studied more comprehensively. Therefore, it will be discussed not only in the law commission, but also in other related commission such as social empowerment and children,” he said.

As a follow up, Fahri Hamzah will check how far the drafting process in Baleg, and the proposal for the establishment of the special committee will be delivered.
