Training of Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Responsive Budgeting Planning for Regional Work Unit in Belu, East Nusa Tenggara

The Department of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) of Belu Regency in cooperation with the BaKTI Foundation and PPSE-KA Belu, supported by MAMPU Program, conducted Training of Gender Mainstreaming (PUG) and Gender Responsive Budgeting Planning (PPRG). The training was held on 12 – 13 June 2017, held at Hotel Nusantara Dua, Atambua, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.
The event was opened by the Head Office of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), dr. Jois Manek. The training was attended by 25 participants from the Regional Planning Board (Bappeda), PPPA Office, Health Office, Education Office, Social Service, Manpower Office, Finance Division, Livestock Service Office, Food and Horticultural Crops Agency (TPHP) and Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
For two days, participants are given material that is divided into two sessions. The material for first-day session was the basic law of gender mainstreaming (PUG), the concept of gender, gender issues, the concept of gender mainstreaming and gender responsive budgeting planning, and the budgeting cycle from village to national level. In the second day session, participants were trained to read the Regional Budget and Expenditure (APBD) and conduct gender analysis using GAP.
As a result of this training, it is expected that 25 Program Planners from each of the regional work unit (SKPD) have understood about PPRG. Then, there will be 25 strategic issues from each SKPD which will be used as advocacy material to regional house of representative (DPRD).
