Employment Opportunity – Thematic Coordinator MAMPU Theme 2: Employment/Economic Empowerment

The Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (MAMPU Phase II) aims to address key issues affecting poor women in accessing, controlling, participating and enjoying fulfilment from policies and development programs in five thematic areas as follows: a) Improving access to GOI’s social protection programs; b) Improving conditions of employment and removing workplace discrimination; c) Improving conditions for women’s overseas labour migration; d) Improving women’s health and nutritional status; e) Reducing violence against women.

The Program will increase the capacity of civil society partners; expand the network organisations working on gender equality; better position all of our partners to exert greater influence on key areas of government policy, and expand reach among poor women at the grassroots level.

MAMPU Thematic Area Two contributes to the government’s medium-term development targets in the RPJMN 2015-2019 through increased labour force participation and mainstreaming gender in laws and regulations to better protect women who work. Providing decent working conditions for homeworkers makes good economic sense, by reducing poverty for thousands of women and their families, it contributes directly to achieving Goal 8 of the SDGs: decent work and economic growth. MAMPU supports women’s groups in finding economic activities to support their livelihood as well as strengthening their organisation.
