Health Access for Poor People in Lembang Tiro Manda, South Sulawesi

Health access is a basic right for every people that must be fulfilled by the government. However, not every people, especially the poor in rural area, can get the access to health services. Therefore, it is necessary for various parties to actively participate and help the poor on advocating their health access.

The constituents group (KK) in the Lembang Tiro Manda Village, Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi, helped and advocated 100 poor families in the village to get National Health Insurance (BPJS) card from the Government.

An old female villager who had a stroke for four years and a poor man who suffered blindness for two years, finally can access health care services to cure their illness through BPJS card. It shows that the action and advocacy from communities are very important to An old the health access of the poor to get their basic rights.
