“At the village level, I initially was in the commission of infrastructure. However, having joined the ‘Aisyiyah’s training I felt that thereproductive health issue is so important to be discussed and included at the village development planning phases. The infrastructure commision could not propose an issue at the planning phase. So, I eventually moved to the socio-cultural commission in order to incorporate reproductive health issues into village development plan.

I was disappointed as the reproductive health program which was originally put to become the priority programs in the Village Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbangkel) suddenly did not appear on the District Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbangcam). Together with a team of ‘Aisyiyah, I continue to oversee the process so that the reproductive health issues are a priority issue in Musrenbangcam.

The latest update from ‘Aisyiyah, reproductive health again did not appear district level development plan. Knowing this, we will continue to assist and monitor the process to make sure that reproductive health is included in our area’s development plan.”
