NTT Governor Meets DFAT and MAMPU

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia and MAMPU conducted a hearings to NTT Governor, Frans Lebu Raya, on January 29, 2016. On this occasion, the Forum of MAMPU Partners in NTT asking for supports from the provincial government and hoping to work together to solve problems faced by migrant workers and their families. NTT, is one of the provinces in Indonesia where the inhabitants are migrant workers.

The Governor recognizes that the problems faced by migrant workers to be dealt together and, therefore, the provincial government has also started to make efforts to deal with this.

MAMPU, together with Migrant CARE are developing a village model that can produce policies to protect migrant workers and their families better. DESBUMI (Desa Peduli Buruh or Village Cares of Migrant Workers) has been established in NTB Province and began to be developed in NTT in the late of December 2015.

The Head of Bappeda NTT Province, Ir. Wayan Darmawa MT, accompanied the Governor when receiving the visit from DFAT and MAMPU.
