One year after MAMPU Program launched its Innovation Fund, the six selected CSO partners gathered again to showcase their innovation-in-progress and learn from one another’s experience in Jakarta, 19-20 Oktober 2015.

Within the workshop there were various activities. One of them was the public session. Partners should do a 5 minute pitch of a work-in-progress to a group of donors, social innovation practitioners, and private sector. Some of them said that the pitch was their first experience ever.

After the pitch happened, several of our innovation fund partners had a follow up meeting with various people. Forinstance, Walang Perempuan and CGCK have meetings set up with The Asia Foundation, Hivos and Rutgers WPF wanted to follow up with OTMI. MAMPU also received requests from guests to host a launch of OTMI’s app.

Another part of the workshop was a session with Google. MAMPU partners reported that interaction with Google was the most interesting part of the workshop. Tips were given by Google to MAMPU partners on how to use Google to maximize their work. For instance, CGCK got tips on how to frame their advocacy based on Google search trends (“poverty” has been googled less in the past three years, while “social problems” were googled more), YSKK talked to Google about including Tenunkoe on Google’s small and medium enterprise SME radar, OTMI and Google talked about making a meme related to ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers in response to the finding that many junior high school students in Kupang are dating ojek drivers, and all partners had conversations about making their websites more “Google-able”.

Partners also took turns sharing their skills in an Innovation Clinic series and had the time to reflect on their past year in the Innovation Fund. All in all, this workshop was a great way to review Innovation Fund while at the same time learning and sharing the knowledge from the Fund and creating new opportunities to collaborate with others.
