The event was held in KPI Aceh’s office and attended by representatives MAMPU Program, Country President of KPI in Aceh and members of Balai Perempuan Aceh. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss their experience in handling complains from the poor women in their area who have been excluded from benefitting social protection programs from the government, particularly the Health Social Insurance (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional/JKN), and also complains about quality of services provided under the program.

On the occasion, Dr. Nicola Nixon from the Embassy asked why do members of Balai Perempuan KPI willing to work voluntarily. They mentioned that there are some benefits they got by joining the Balai Perempuan KPI. Although they worked voluntarily, they can expand their network, increase skills and knowledge to analyze things, have the opportunity to learn leadership skills and also learn about accountability.

Currently, KPI Aceh has 8 branches, consisting of 41 Balai Perempuan. The KPI Aceh activities which supported by MAMPU Program are available in 3 regencies and 9 villages (Balai Perempuan).
