Discussion on Gender and Sexual Violence in Sekolah Perempuan Ciliwung, Jakarta

Sekolah Perempuan or School of Women in Ciliwung, Rawajati, Pancoran, South Jakarta held a monthly discussion themed “Sexual Violence”. This event was held in Musholla Al Ikhlas, in the Ciliwung Riverbank.

The discussion was attended by 36 people from total of 41 members of Ciliwung School of Women. The facilitator asked the members to reflect their understanding on gender and discuss the affect of gender construction to sexual violence in the community.

Ciliwung School of Women was initiated and managed by Circle of Alternative Education for Women (KAPAL Perempuan), supported by MAMPU Program. Most of the members are work in the informal sector, such as laundrying, running a small stall at home, and housekeeping.
