FGD on National Health Insurance Research in Tuban, East Java

The Indonesian Women’s Coalition for Justice and Democracy (Koalisi Perempuan Indonesia/ KPI) Tuban Branch, East Java was held a focus group discussion (FGD) in the Jadi village, Semanding District, Tuban Regency, East Java.

The event was held on 23rd March 2016, aimed to sharpen the preliminary findings ofge research about the National Health Insurance (JKN). This study wanted to see how the women experience of JKN recipients and non-recipients on accessing health facilities.

There were 20 participants who representing the Department of Social Welfare, Department of Health, Health Centers, Village Midwives, Village Chiefs, Balai Perempuan members and management, and also management and regional secretary of KPI Tuban branch.

The discussion was talking about the preliminary findings of the research. There were some problems in the implementation of JKN, such as: inaccurate recipients data, limited socialisation about JKN in Tuban, limited information about the health insurance card usage, and limited public knowledge about the health service provided by the card.

This meeting also became a pilot socialisation for ‘Balai Perempuan’ as the center of JKN information and complaints. In addition, KPI asked government’s commitment for further cooperation.
