Home Workers in East Java Participated in Public Hearing on Draft of Employment Protection Regulation

On Monday, 25 July 2016, Home Workers in East Java participated in the Public Hearing to the Commission E (Welfare) East Java Provincial Parliament. The event was conducted to discuss about the Draft of Employment Protection Regulation. It was held at the Adhikara Loka Bina, meeting room, East Java Governor Office.

Some recommendations of Home Workers during the Public Hearing are:

  1. Recognition of Home  Workers, puting out the system as workers (in the first part of the draft, related to common understanding and definition),
  2. Arranging the Home Workers in a special section with several articles, such as the Employment Agreement,
  3. Arranging wages for Home Workers that equivalent to factory worker wages unit with a certain formula,
  4. Remuneration that consider the use of premises, equipment and materials from home workers,
  5. Strengthening the oversight function of employment, especially for contracting labour and outsourcing,
  6. For outsourcing work, determination of main and supporting employment should be set by the government, not by the business associations,
  7. The provision of social protection for safety from accidents/ occupational hazards caused by work.
