MAMPU is entering the Phase II of the 8 year programme. In this second phase, MAMPU’s goals is shifting from the first phase of the programme. On the first phase MAMPU focused on strengthening partners’ organisations to empower others. Now, on the second phase the strengthened organisations will be focusing on voicing, influencing opinions and changing minds and practices of communities, decision-makers and private sectors and getting issues onto policy agenda.

In order to communicate the voices of women, there is a need for partners to have a robust communication plan to support the revamped program design. MAMPU partners play an important role to provide balanced and accurate information and communicate them through various communication channels to the right audience with the right messages.

To ensure that each partner has a comprehensive communication plan, MAMPU CKM team has conducted communication strategy development workshop for MAMPU partners to be able to have a robust communication strategy and plan for their organisation. Hopefully, this will encourage and help them to voice their issues in a more strategic and effective way.

The objectives of the workshop are:

  1. To improve partners’ capacities and skills in developing a comprehensive communication strategy and plan for their MAMPU-related activities.
  2. To raise their ability in packaging and selling their issues so it will attract their stakeholders, including the media.
  3. Partners to be exposed to and understand writing styles and techniques that best incorporate issues surrounding poverty and gender, especially their own focus of work with MAMPU.
  4. Partners understand how to access and use information, sources and resources to support the communication strategy and plan.

This 3 days workshop was held in three different regions in Indonesia:

  1. Central region: covering partners in Java, Bali and NTB. Training location in Surabaya, East Java, held on 27 – 29 April 2016.
  2. East region: covering partners in NTT, Maluku and Sulawesi. Training location in Makassar, South Sulawesi, held on 18 – 20 May 2016.
  3. West region: covering partners in Sumatera and Kalimantan islands. Training location in Medan, North Sumatera, held on 25 – 27 May 2016.

MAMPU invited 45-60 partners’ and sub-partners’ communication staffs from all region. Each partner sent 1 to 2 communication staff to this workshop.
