Public Hearing of Women Homeworkers Union Federation to DPRD Yogyakarta

A total of 20 board committee and members of the Women Home Workers Union Federation (PPR) of Bantul District held a public hearing to the Yogyakarta Regional House of Representatives. They were accepted by the Chairman of the Yogyakarta Regional House of Representatives, H. Yoeke Indra Agung L, SE.

The hearing was held on Friday, 2 June 2017 and participated by representatives from 5 PPR unions, including: Kreatif Bunda of Wonolelo Village, Bunda Mandiri of Bawuran Village, Bunda Berkarya of Segoroyoso Village, Ngudi Makmur of Wukirsari Village, and Kasih Bunda of Bangunjiwo Village.

Each union representative delivers and tells how the group is formed, support from village government, union outcomes, and future expectations regarding the recognition and protection of the right to work for women home workers.

In response, the Chairman of DPRD DIY gave input to keep doing the data collection to the women home workers, then invited them to join the union, as well as expanded the scope of the village.

“For the long term, I hope that women home workers can form cooperatives and become the backbone of the village economy,” Yoeke said.

Yoeke promised to schedule a meeting between Yasanti and Woman Home Workers with Regional Government executives such as: Bureau of Welfare, Regional Planning Agency (Bappeda), Office of Manpower and Transmigration (Disnakertrans), Social Agency, Agency of Women and Societies Empowerment, and Health Office of DIY.

At the end of the meeting, Warisah (Chairman of the Federation of PPR Unions) hand in the files containing Federation’s statues and bylaws, proof of registration, and data of the federation members to the Chairman of the DPRD DIY.
